Follow up to Bob Dylan’s 70th Bday Jubilee

Bob Dylan Mashup
Mates out there may recall that Tuesday was the legendary musician’s 10th septennial, or 7/10s of his centennial, err… he turned 70! To celebrate this momentous occasion, Dylan fans from around Austin gathered at the East Side Drive-In food trailers to sing his praises and his songs.

I arrived at the shindig shortly after 7 pm to find the free beer a-flowin’ and the guitarists a’strummin. We watched the sunset over the Austin skyline while familiar tunes, such as Tangled Up In Blue and Like A Rolling Stone, emerged from the crowd.

I of course brought a Lighter Mate to plant at the event and to reward the musicians for their hard work, I chose to place it right on the rim of a drum, which continued to carry the beats into the night. Needless to say, the Dylan fans were pretty stoked to sport the toy on their instruments, and I couldn’t help but feel that a little gift giving was the perfect way to cap off Mister Bob Dylan’s birthday.

Stay tuned for our next adventure into Austin’s music scene, and keep an eye out for free lighters around town!

PS. As I’m typing this up, Bob Dylan keeps popping up on coffee shop’s stereo. Coincidence? I think not.

Love Balls (the trailer sponsoring Bob Dylan’s birthday) is now carrying LighterMate. If you know anyone looking for their Mate, this is a great spot to grab one on the East side.
